There are many passionate young people trying to learn Chinese. But at some point, they cannot keep studying Chinese because they feel like they cannot learn anything and they confuse because of tones and pictographic writing style.
While learning Chinese you must keep the tone of the word in your mind. Otherwise, you will be confused.
Another mistake is learning only the word. You should memorize word in a sentence and in HSK exam the word will be given in a sentence. It is better to search Chinese sentences online. Only memorizing HSK words is not enough to pass HSK Exam.
I suggest you keep a notebook for yourself to remember the Chinese characters. If you are studying Chinese without class try to pronounce by yourself.
Try to ignore the fact that learning Chinese is the hardest one. If you love Chinese, it is not that hard!
