For over seven decades, humanity has lived under the shadow of nuclear weapons. The discourse surrounding these existential threats has been largely dominated by political scientists, strategists, and military analysts, focusing on deterrence theory, arms control treaties, and geopolitical posturing. While indispensable, this traditional lens has reached its limits. The machinery of nuclear strategy was built by people, is operated by people, and ultimately, fails because of people. The greatest threat to our survival is not just the warhead, but the human mind that decides to use it, the societal pressures that shape that decision, and the complex systems that can spin out of control. The Science of Preventing Nuclear War: Psychology, Sociology, and Systems Thinking is a landmark volume that seeks to fundamentally reframe the debate. We propose that to truly understand and mitigate the risk of nuclear catastrophe, we must turn the powerful lens of the behavioral and systems sciences onto the problem. This book will not rehash Cold War doctrine; it will build a new, interdisciplinary framework for survival in the 21st century and beyond. We are seeking cutting-edge chapters that explore the human and systemic dimensions of the nuclear challenge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
