class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our project is a simple registry, not an auto-reply or forwarding service. People tell us their old email address\u2014one that is no longer active and no longer receives mail\u2014and their current email address. We write that mapping into storage: old address \u2192 new address. The old address is dead, and no one is informing senders automatically, because the old inbox cannot send or receive anything. The registry is the informing mechanism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How it works<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A person submits their <strong>old, inactive email address<\/strong> and their <strong>new, active email address<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We store the pair in a searchable registry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anyone who still has the old address can look it up in the registry and immediately see the new address.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The old address is not censored, blocked, or erased from anyone\u2019s contact list. It is simply recorded as retired, with a pointer to where the person can now be reached.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The principle<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If someone can still find the old address, they should be able to get the new one. Because the old inbox is dead, the registry does the telling. No one is monitoring the old address, and no message is forwarded. The storage is the bridge: it openly says, \u201cThis old address is no longer in use; here is the current one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What the project provides<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We provide the storage and lookup layer: a place to register retired addresses, a way to search them, and clear rules for consent and accuracy so that only the owner can register a mapping. We do not censor the old address. We do not pretend it still works. We simply record that it is dead and where the person has gone\u2014so that anyone who writes to the old one, or finds it in an old message, can get the new one from the registry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Why it matters<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Old email addresses persist in contacts, documents, and mailing lists long after they stop working. Without a registry, those addresses become silent dead ends.
